Step 1: heat treated strips placed on the planing block
Step 2: hand plane cuts the strips into tapered equal triangles on the steel form.
Step 3: Arrow shows the shape of
the triangular strip of bamboo above.

Step 4: Below you see the strips getting closer to being glued together forming a hexagonal shaft just like a fly rod.
Step 5 and 6: Hexagonal shaft (see arrow above) is finished and cork rings are glued on forming the grip to mount the strips of rattan
